The last week saw sex workers, representing almost all the regions across Kenya come together for the Sex Workers Advocacy Training. The main aim for this was to equip the various groups with better, diplomatic and sovereign problem solving approaches towards their day to day challenges. The three-day intense SW advocacy training was summed up by the KESWA 2021 annual report launch. The launch, branded "More than resilience" saw KESWA give a detailed report of it's 2021 activities. This is a huge leap for KESWA's cause while at the same time ensuring the organisation's strategic plan is still in full effect. As sex workers we are more than resilient, moreover, we are just getting started.
2021 proved to be a year that tested our true resilience & determination in striving for sex workers’ rights, amidst the unprecedented COVID-19 global pandemic that created very challenging conditions globally.
We were put to the test, along with the mettle of our people in facing adversity. With the pandemic dictating the way we work & live for most part of the year, KESWA remained strongly committed & focused to ensure the health, safety & wellbeing of our people. We continued to implement extensive safety & hygiene measures in line with the governmental regulations by adopting remote working, physical distancing & investments across our digital infrastructure, systems, & security enhancements at our worksites and onboard our offices.
